cheap wedding venue edinburgh

We're planning on getting married in Edinburgh or near edinburgh in 2010. The problem is everywhere is really expensive. We're planning on having around 50 guests for the evening reception and if we decide on a sit down meal probably 25 people for the meal and ceremony with the others coming later or if we just go for a buffet (a really nice buffet tho) then all 50 probably for this aswell. All then venues I've looked at are quite posh and expensive. We're not particularly formal people and just want a nice day without it costing a crazy amount. Anyone got any good ideas for cheap wedding venues/caterers in or around edinburgh? Any help very much appreciated as I'm starting to get really stressed about all of this.

Hi there, in Livingston there is a place called the Deer Park Hotel and Golf Course and they only charge for food, drink and entertainment if required. Im getting married at the kings manor hotel, in edinburgh. If you google it, it should come up. It also comes under the name of best western hotel. Im having a meal for 38 people plus a buffet for 80 people at night and it just under £900. Quite reasonable i think

Have you thought about using a Historic Scotland property - we looked at Craigmillar Castle, but ended up getting married at Urquhart Castle near Inverness (didn't cost us that much) You can hire the property for the wedding ceremony as well as the reception - they'll recommend caterers for you, I think

Hi, I am also looking for a reasonable evening wedding party venue - I just want a hall, preferably with a bar that will allow us to bring our own food and music and takes about 80 people. Looking for something in the North/central Edinburgh - has anybody come across anywhere like this they can recommend? thanks!
