This is for those NRP out there, please make sure that you are aware of a clause with this system. (I'm not sure if is applicable to the newers systems, so might still be worth looking into)
Part of the payment you make to the PWC is a carers allowance, this is reduced when child is 11 by 25%, 14 by 50% and at 16 it is removed completely.
Beware because the CSA system is unable to calculate this itself you must call the CSA to advise them of your childs date of birth!! Crazy because every letter you get has their date of birth on it.
My husband became aware of this in the feb of my step son being 16 in May, they won;t back date it and it has reduced our payment by about £44 per months. (THerefore we have overpaid about £400)
EDIT - It is written in the leaflet we were given at the time of having to go through the CSA, (don't have it handy but post it later on) they say that they will only implement it if the difference is greater than £10 pw.
They also didn't reassess my hubbys case at the same time.

Is this written down anywhere?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Doesn't apply to all cases only maybe paying more than £30pw, and case officer may not do it without a further change such as housing etc, so you run the risk of income also being reviewed so beware.
But yes it is something to consider.Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
Is this just on CS1 then?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

I just excitedly ran upstairs to check my paperwork.
However, they have indeed automatically stopped the PWC's carers allowance @ the next assessment date after they reached those ages.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

The leaflet you really need is the CSA 2008 and p63 onwards although the rates are old it does give you a idea of where the MR comes in. http://www.csa.gov.uk/en/PDF/leaflets/old/CSA2008.pdf
It will make most difference if the PWC and NRP have income, and of no difference where the NRP !!! income is less than about £50pw.
Here is a little gem. There is an error in the old rules calc whereby the joint assessable income of a PWC and NRP is calculated and reduced where shared care is in place.
BUT the reduction of the shared care is taken off of the NRP's income so if the PWC has a high income the shared care will be greater than for a sole earner. (Yes I am a sad man who finds this stuff interesting, which is lucky after a 8 week training course on it)Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
Hi All,
My husband just phoned the csa to find out firstly how much of his maintenance was 'carers allowance', in order for him to calculate how much it should be reduced by and they said they couldn't tell him and that he would need to speak to his case worker as they didn't have the breakdown of his assessment.
thay also said that he would have to be re-assessed before the reduction would be made!
I don't see why he would need to be re-assessed just because he may be entitled to a reduction due to his childs age.
The cynic in me thought it may be to put him off reducing his payments by scaring him with threats of re-assessment.
I may be wrong.
If nrp's are entitled to these reductions, they should happen automatically.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j:rotfl::rotfl:
