Set the date - 17th April 2009

:j :j :j We decided on Saturday night to get married this year. We are having just immediate family(24) for the wedding and meal, then a further 60 at night. We have booked the registry office and reception hall, caterer, DJ. We are having a meal seperate from the recption venue, still to book that. I work behind the bar of the recption venue and I am getting the hire and DJ free:j :j :j

I am going to go for taxis to the registry office, wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses off the peg. I have looked on ebay and found beautiful silk bouquets for myself and 3 bridesmaid for about £100. I dont' want to do favors, but may give in and do something last minute.

Just need to organise
photographer(sil knows a guy who is training, so might get him quite cheap)
groom/ best man outfit

Anything else?

Thanks in advance.
Maureen

  • Hello fellow datee! Clive and I have just booked the very same date on Monday this week! We're having 15-18 people all family and very close friends for a civil ceremony at a hotel in Hampshire.

My dress turned up this morning - I love it! It needs shortening, and I have contacted a lady who can do it next month.

Booked the photographer for a fantastic price. My dad is an amateur photographer, so I'm sure he'll be snapping throughout the day, but I wanted someone for a couple of hours to take the official photographs with my dad in them!

    The cake is being priced-up.

The rings are being looked into.

The flowers are also being thought about. At the moment, I think yellow, white and green - anything that's in season so they'll look very spring-like!

We have a menu tasting at the venue on Wednesday, and we're also going to our local registrar to do the notice thingamybob.

I need to look into a hair and make-up person. Must do that soon.

Going shopping with my best friend for shoes and accessories next Saturday.

Going suit-hire shopping for a suit for Clive this Saturday.

Looking into out honeymoon most evenings - trying to work out where we can afford to go!

Going to do a list this weekend of:
    Essentials
Things we'd really love to do on the day
Things we'd like to do if we can afford it.

    Many congratulations, Maureen :)
  • Congratulations Lura, fellow datee. :T

My hairdresser is doing the hair, make up I'm doing my own.

Not doing a honeymoon, we have 3 kids and are booked for Haven in July. Df and I will probably do a 2 night stay in a hotel somewhere quite near and my mum will watch the kids. Either that or go home to a quiet house for 2 days peace and quiet. LOL

Invitations are going to be off the shelf also.

Love the dresses in BHS, defo going to try them on. I have a pair of ivory shoes I bought for my brothers wedding 3 years ago, wore them 1 day, so going to wear them. It will remind me of him as he sadly passed away 2 years ago.

not doing a gift list. If they give me a present, very good, if not I'll not be bothered as long as they are there to help me celebrate getting DH down the ailse after 10 years.:D

This forum is amazing for all the tips and help. I am hoping to do the mirror plates and vase for centre pieces for the tables. I done a search and found the thread with the links on them. Thanks everyone.
