A friend from the local pub has sadly passed away and police have been unable to trace his family /next of kin
If they dont get any info within the next day they are letting the local council take charge of the funeral
we know he had children and need to get in touch with them, any ideas people ?

    Local news, local radio stations?
Surely the police know who he is?
    I haven't got one!

Have you tried 192.com . You can enter the name in and hopefully it will confirm however many Joe Bloggs in the area. I assume the Police have done a voters check on the electoral roll ,I think it is possible to access this on line . Failing that if the chap was in hospital within the last 5 years surely details of his next of kin would be on record at the hospital ?? Friends reunited maybe ??

I'd say go for local paper: even if they won't run an article they may well print a letter. I'm not a great local radio listener, but don't recall ever hearing any contact attempts made that way, whereas there are often letters like that in local paper.
