Hi, had a visit today from Jacobs certficated Bailiffs, they had a letter for my son stating that they wanted from him straight away £279.51 for an unpaid parking ticket, I told them my son left home almost 2 years ago, the parking tiocket was from 2007, he stll left me with a letter to pass on to my son , stating he will be back in 24hrs, he does not live here and on ringing the Bayliffs office in mersey sied who were so rude, they said I have to prove he does not live here, by producing a gas or electric bill, nothing else, I only get a bill once a year as I have a token meter for both and my bill is not due till March, last years are probably binned by now, I have letters to me from the dwp, my bank, and bt but I have been told only gas or electric, as the debt is my sons can they still attempt to take my things to cover his debt, and can I be held liable for my sons debt ? thanks in advance

I don't understand why it's only Gas or Electric? My DH isn't on our bills except the council tax. gas and electric bills aren't proof of who lives there. I would think a council tax bill would be more appropriate.
Sorry I can't be of any help regarding the actual bailiffs though.

This is outrageous. It is not your responsibility to do anything with respect to this debt.
Can you pm Herbie21 with the name of the bailiff and refer her to this thread. Will post up her web-site in a mo.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Thanks for your response, I think that they are just being pains in the a--e, I have a water bill and a council tax bill, I even sugested thay kindly check the electoral roll which would clearly show my son no longer lives here, will just take it from there and see how it goes.0 -
