Struggling to stay afloat since relationship breakup

  • If you don't mind me asking, what's your occupation? Your take home pay seems horribly low for somebody working 50 hours a week. Are you sure there isn't something else you could do with your skills and experience for more money?

  • Well rang the baliffs and they wernt the monsters i was expecting.

they basically have accepted 9 weekly payments of 50 pounds and a final payment of 24.60 there is a 4% levy on it though unless u pay by postal order but hey i was paying 100 a week over the counter before although it was crippling me, so by calling in the baliffs the council have just doubled the time it will take them to recoup the money.

Gonna ring the AA now and find out if i have any rebate there, then its payplan followed by a browse on the vinyl websites.

thanku so much for all the positive suggestions i fell so much better already and i feel empowered that im actually taking some direct action to sort this out :))
  • Vinyl is a funny market

Some things are barely worth postage whereas others can go over £50

I would have a good look and try to see what you have that might be collectable

Basically bands with older fan bases tend to work

In addition, compilation albums can be valuable

    Don't dismiss out of hand

Do a google search for 'Easy Roommate' in the uk. Its another site which may help you find a flat mate.

    Hi there,

Welcome to MSE and well done for taking the first step in sorting your finances out.

I just wanted to mention that your budget for your cats seems pretty high and wondered if you had looked into reducing the budget?

We have three cats and they are house cats so we are constantly cleaning and refilling their litter tray. We were spending a lot on litter and those clear liners to put in the tray (£1.19 for just 6 liners! ) and we go through 4 packets a week!!!

We decided to buy a roll of Tesco Value swing bin liners as a substitute and they work out at only 58p for 40 (2p per liner). They do exactly the same job as the expensive liners!

Another high cost we were paying was for a named brand of cat litter (£3.87 for 10 litres) whereas Tesco Value cat litter is only £1.19 for 8 litres.

We are quite lucky with our cats in the fact that they prefer supermarket cheap own brand cat biscuits! If yours don't, give it to them anyway ... they will eat it eventually rather than starve!!

    Best of luck
