the epg on most freeview boxes comes directly from the boradcaster through the transmitter. the broadcaster transmits the epg data free of charge. the reason that some boxes dont have the 8 day listings is that it doesnt have the memory to download the epg data fromt he broadcaster and store it in the box.
some manufacturers pay a license to download epg data every night from 304, which is just a company which transmit epg data on channel 304 to boxes such as digifusion models. the reason they do this is so that in the future they can expand to 14 and 30 day listings and transmit more in-depth epg information such as photos and logos.0 -
There are two EPGs on Freeview, one a Free 7 day and another a 14 day one that only certain boxes can get, but my guess is that this one may be an internet based EPG. I almost wonder if it is digiguide (https://www.digiguide.com) that is £8.95 a year and with add-ons can cope with many cards, comes with a 30 day free trial. I still remember when Digiguide was free...
If you have the software for it anyone can download the official Freeview 7 day EPG.0 -

Dazzle VideoCollector 2006, PCI Card / Analogue In, DVB-T & Analogue TV tuner / Studio QuickStart & TVCenter SW

Is this card only recently released? Any one tried one yet?
The only part the worries me is that the production information says: "Watch and record TV on your PC; Added features include Timeshifting, Teletext and web-based EPG (30- day trial included) "
I can not see any information saying how much the EPG will cost after 30 days, and does this work with teletext transmitted through Freeview?
I received an email from Amazon delaying my order from beginning of March to end of March. Other places seem to have lots in stock, but at a higher price... :-(0 -
If it works with MCE then it supports the MS BDA model. This means it works with most PVR software. Personally I use WebScheduler for recording - low overheads and easy to use but it lacks playback. I have it set up so that it puts the computer into hibernate after it has finished a recording and it automatically wakes the computer before recording if it is not already switched on.
For grabbing free EPG I use XMLTV GUI which grabs data from either Bleb or the Radio Times. http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Hi I presume the MCE remote can be used so no need for buying the one for this? Can I put two in together. Is it true this is the pctv 300i as posted on Amazon customer reviews?
Thanks OP as this could be what I'm looking for0 -
Rob, there is a short delay, but nothing to bad
Ram: i dont use a remote as its going through the 360
but that remote controls it all yes!

iceax, does that mean you can watch digital TV channels (ITV2 etc) using this card and with MCE you can stream the output through the PC into the xbox 360?iceax wrote:Rob, there is a short delay, but nothing to bad

Does it massively overhead your PC ? I stream MP3s to my 360 at the moment and the software is 40mb in memory and I just have xp pro sp2, but I may get MCE if I can do this....

Yeah, i can watch any tv channel downstairs on the 360,
while the SFF Pc is upstairs streaming over wifi to xbox.
The xbox remote operates like a mouse so can do
most functions from that.
Brilliant set up IMO.
Dont notice any overheating, might use up resources but that
computer is deicated to doing that, i have 2 others for apps etc
