I wanna R4 or similar.

Options
I'd like an R4 or similar (the whole package) for homebrew on the DS.

Obviously I'd like it as cheap as possible but I'm also starting to get confused about which ones really work and which ones can cause problems. I was looking at some on Amazon but they don't seem to be selling them anymore.

Thanks for any help.

My son got an R4 (not saying from where cos I don't know) because he was jealous of his sister's N5, but his doesn't work. Now I'm looking for a replacement and I haven't a clue what to get: N5, R4, DSone, DSTT, EDGE...?

    Help?

We got ours from memorybits.co.uk 10% via quidco. Excellent customer service also. We had problems with the M3 we bought DS we spoke to the support team who advice us to return it. They sent it back loaded with all the info we needed. Since bought the R4 for DD from them.

Ok, chatted with 'memorybits' and looks as if the R4 cartridge is ******* :-(

So, before I go spending money I don't have, can someone tell me whether I'd be better off sticking with another N5 - we have loads of games that work on the N5 - or whether these will also work on the R4 or any other newer, better, shinier ones???

I just want to be able to put e-books on mine. I assume any of them will work for me. Is that correct?

I got a TTDS card with 2gb micro sd card for under £8 from dealextreme.com. Took 2 weeks to arrive but is great, well worth the wait.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

Daska, I've read alot about the different things you have to download onto the R4 before it works, have you looked into this?

Justevi, I was thinking of the ttds card too. Did it come with everything you needed or did you have to buy other things too? And have you used it and found it easy to work?

I've looked at memorybits. I'm a bit wary of some of the others.

I have the TTDS software on disc and all you do is drag it onto card. I am not technically minded at all and I find it a doddle to do. PM me if you need full details.

I think sorting out these ****** N5 and R4 things has used up about 6 hours in total but very happy now that IT'S WORKING!!!!

Finally got a decent download from http://r4ds!!!!/download/r4_v1.18_kernel.html (IMHO there's something wrong with the software download from memorybits - there was an additional file in the memorybits download and I'm not a numpty)

Just got to decide what to get for myself and neice now. Will investigate TTDS as well, thank you justevi.
