I'm just catching the coverage of the Obama speechon Newsnight. Is it just me who has had it to the back teeth with soundbites?
The audience seem inspired, jumping, clapping, whooping almost, but I feel more disilliusioned with each one, not just poor Super-Obama but of course over here too.
I just want the truth. No 'My job is to solve the problem' but how he is proposing to do it, and not in five steps to prosperity from Obama or a new deal for financial governance, from Brown.
I just feel one more piece of rhetoric might have me grind my teeth to dust
I want clear, detailed and boringly accurate descriptions and details of what the short, medium and long term plan is.
Is it only me who is royally riled with rhetoric?
ETA:and Westlife should be shot too, as they are all gaping fools"

I could only agree with you more if you had added "and Westlife should be shot too, as they are all gaping fools", at the end of your post.0 -

Ignoring the music, why do dislike the man totties so much? They are quite dishy and harmless...like nice wallpaper or a pretty dress. Something to brighten up the world.I could only agree with you more if you had added "and Westlife should be shot too, as they are all gaping fools", at the end of your post.0 -

I don't even know what they look like ..I'm a radio girl. I hate music videos. Even the ones I can't help liking:o , so I try not to watch them so I don't see any good ones .
ETA: thinking about it are they short and dark? I think I do recall how they look. Vaguely.

Not sure about Westlife.
But my experience of Americans is that they go in for all this whooping and cheering in a big way.
For years I worked for a big US corporation - we manufactured amongst other things sweets (Mars bars) and in the division I worked for it was transactional electronics - the money side of vending and gaming machines.
We had a sister plant in the US and they put us under one manager. In the US factory they had introduced a bell, like a ships bell, that someone rang every time a target was acheived. The manager decided to introduce the same thing here. We struggled to get anyone to ring the bloody thing let alone stand up and clap and cheer when it was rung.
In the US they were queueing up to ring it and when it was rung they all stopped worked and clapped and cheered.
I had to work over there for a while and I was really surprised at the enthusiasm for this - where as the manager was really surprised at our lack of enthusiasm in the UK.
I came to the conclusion that they were easily pleased and very supportive of any initiative, in private though I'm not sure what they thought, but they participated fully at work. Unlike us.0
