phemalee wrote:Be weary when buying Plasmas, the resolution is usually terrible unless you are prepared to spend £2000+. Most sub grand models compromise the picture or sound quality. You'd be better off spending your money on a smaller LCD TV £1000+. I bought a LE32R51BD 32" High Definition Digital Widescreen LCD TV for my work recently. Brilliant clarity and superb sound. Crystal clear when using a laptop or PC through it. Costs £865.75 via the Curry's website.
Hope this helps you!
Dont be stupid you dont need to spend that sort of money to get good quality lcd and plasma. Swisstec avaliable from most large Coops get them to plug it in and demo they are cheap and fantastic. The cost price is most likely the same as other brands but the coop are not trying to make loads of profit on them unlike curries:beer:

After much searching and lots of questions in every shop selling tv's i am either going for
Samsung LE40R51BX Flat Panel TV
124535
which can be viewed HERE
or this
Sony KDLS40A12 Flat Panel TV
which can be viewed HERE
I can tell you that if you just want to put your tv in the corner on a stand like a lot of people do it might be worth you checking out the new HD ready rear projection LCD tv's that they are selling now.Like these HERE the ones i looked at were very impressive and would of got my choice if it were not for the fact we had restyled the living room around the new tv being wall mounted above the fire place etc.
A couple of points on plasma ( i dont like them) the gas technology is much more advanced now and will last a long time. You dont just throw it out if the gas goes, YOU get it regassed.
Do you throw out your digital camera when the batteries go flat.....

You cannot be serious
Swistec are the biggest heap of rubbish I have ever seen.
Sure enough, if you watch one in your local co-op it may look "OK" but try looking at it with a half decent DVD in a half decent DVD player (not a £29.99 special) and you will notice that when the scene goes dark there is absolutely NO detail in the shadows. Thats the sort of thing that costs money ... actually being able to watch the detail in the movie.
My advice to anyone considering a Plasma or LCD bigger than 32" for under £1500 would be better off saving a grand and buying a CRT TV as they will be throwing their money away. The bigger the screen, the worse the picture is going to look if its not a half decent model.
If you dont beleive me about the Swisstec, go along to Makro (who sell them) and compare one side by side with a half decent brand like JVC or Philips (even they are not fantastic) and you will be amazed by the difference.
For anyone who has a decent HD set, you can download some HD clips from the Microsoft media site and play them back via your PC if its fast enough to handle the video, they are totally amazing and very similar to the demo that Currys use for the LG models they sell (which are about the cheapest watchable Plasma or LCD you can buy).
For what its worth, I think Samsung make the best 42" Plasma in terms of value for money, and for LCD I would recommend the 37" Toshiba. If money is no object then check out the Panasonics.0 -
bought dis from aria 4 months ago...its fine0

You can't re gas a plasma screen.
When the colours fade it is time to scrap it.
This is why LCD screens are now dominating the market.0 -
