Thanks again guys. I have now brought some bamboo stalks from B&Q and i am going to try and grow my own. In the meantime, I'll have another look in IKEA (Southampton is the nearest to me). Fingers crossed.

I would have said Ikea - or look out at pound shop or home bargains for plain egg cups you might get a pack of 4 for a pound especially as it is easter.

Have you considered miniture terracotta pots from your local garden centre? Usually pretty cheap?
These would look pretty cute with a nice ribbon tied around them?

babygirlH - cool idea...I'd wanted to do something similar but been struggling to find a UK supplier - I'm doing bamboo as centrepiecs instead - although you've inspired me to think again...

Just wanted to say have you seen that they sell the bamboo stalks in IKEA too - they're pretty cheap and come in straight or curly

    Hi All
Thanks for all ur advice. Just to update you.

My boss managed to find me whilst shopping in Hobby Craft a 2inch terrocotta pot (39p) - perfect.
I have painted it in white acrylic paint, how ever the finish is terrible and paint stroke marks are visible, its not smooth at all. Anyone have any ideas on what paint to use?
I haven't brought any pebbles yet to put into the pot. I was thinking of buying ones that are put into fish tanks. However in this pic I have improvised with Southsea beach stones that I found lying around at home.
It's not the finished favor, I am going to buy some red ribbon and it tie around the pot, and maybe a tag with thank you etc.
Oh and I brought from B&Q - bamboo plants which consisted of 12 bamboo stalks, (10cms) and 6 larger bamboo stalks (14cm) this cost (£3.98). You can it in the pic behind the bamboo favor.
What do you think so far?

Looks fab!! For the paint you could try a spray paint, although might not work so well with teracotta as the moisture would come through the teracotta. You could do a test one to see...(and/or just spray them close to the wedding)

Tried using spray paint (plasti-kote) which is suitable for ceramic. But still not a good finish. I have posted on the home DIY forum to see if anyone can come up with any better ideas.
