Sorry if its a thick question but I was wondering when it came to credit checks for mortgages if it was only the lender authorised to do so or could your fa credit check on their systems (if thats possible?) when applying.

You can download your own credit file from the internet, either for a nominal fee or even a free trial- be sure to fully open all the sections. Your adviser should be able to interpret it quite easily & spot any potential pitfalls or anomalies; this will actually help him (or you) with sourcing the right mortgage for you BEFORE an Agreement In Principle with a lender is done, & thus not leaving a "footprint".
Hope this helpsI am a Mortgage Adviser
