I recently moved to Whitstable in Kent and having two small children needed to find out what activities there were available for them - we received a free magazine through the door called the Whitstable Imp which has listings for all sorts of activities in the back some free to attend and some 50p or £1. - I'm not particularly interested in the rest of the mag but the listings are useful and available via their website for anyone who is interested - http://www.the-imp.co.uk/community_info.html There are competitions too so I'll keep you posted...:D
