but my rent is more than my wages, what can i do?
Go back to work? Move back in with your parents? How long are you signed off for?
To be fair, I would have expected your employer to make it clear how long your sick pay would last, and at what level. Have you got a copy of your contract, or company Handbook or other documents? That should clearly spell out how much sick pay you should get. Legally, they don't have to pay you any time on full pay, only SSP, unless you have a contract with more generous terms.
Are you aware of anyone else who has had a similar amount of time off, and what happened to them? It is remotely possible that you could earn rights by the length of time they have followed a particular practice, ie they should treat everybody the same.0 -

my hubby has just gone back to work after months off ill his company paid full pay for so long then it went to ssp but i had already spoken to them so i was expecting it , i managed to spend a hell of a lot less and build up a "buffer" to see us through . as youve been ill hasnt your spending been less ?maybe im misunderstanding but if your rent is more than your wages how do you normally manage ? i know ssp is a drop but it can be done we dropped from approx £600 to £75 pw .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Have you got any income protection insurance? Check your paperwork just in case. Just thought I'd mention it as sometimes it gets overlooked. Here I go again on my own....0
