To thsoe of you that have been in court i know know why you say dont worry,to those of you still waiting to go DONT worry the court staff are more helpfull than you can imagine there helpfull and our guy was so pleasent hard to belive wht we were there for First of you go and get your paperwork checked and sworn he didnt much like the fact they were done on line(the OR on the other hand did!!)so that took about 30mins for them to do the paperwork and make up two seperate files we were worried thay thet would see us seperate But not the case, your then taken to see the judge his court usher takes your case notes and makes some sort of list/comment? then takes them into the judge this is were i started to get real scared she then got a call from the judge asking us both to go and see him
Again a pleasent man only asked my wife to confirm her name and what she owed then he asked me to confirm ny name and what i owed asked me why my pay has not really gone up in last 20years in my trade(electrical retail)gave him quick example used to make £3.00 every time i sold dvd player now its 0.30p!!!so i have to sell ten times as much to stand still!!with that he said ok its 10.55am i know make you bankrupt!!!
back upsairs to deal with OR this was longest wait over 45mins to speak to them on phone Again pleasent people and they liked the fact we did ours on line!
And that as they say is it!!!I Cant belive how nice they all were Belive me if you have ever dealts with the likes of MBNA or debt collectors its easy to deal with this!

Hi Paul - I've been following your story and am very glad you posted an update. I hope you feel like a weight has been lifted and you can now get on with the rest of your life

I too will be going bankrupt. My husband and I have secured debts of £60k, so we're putting the house on the market this weekend and once sold and in rented accommodation, will go bankrupt.

I saw your post with regards to your rental property - is that all sorted now? I am a bit worried about bankruptcy affecting this, so want to hear a positive outcome!

Again, I'm very pleased this is all over for you!

Ref your 2nd post - we had the same problem re debt being sold after we had been declared BR - they where not happy bunnies - it may be just me but I got a little perverse pleasure informing some of them of our BR

  • dont know who are OR yet they will be based in chatham kent thats all we know for now?
Jaelor dont no yet what will happen about house?we have been tol by the CCCS that the ORdoes not have to telll our landlord?we have been here just under 2 years and this let runs out in june 06 we hope we can go for another year?but we are going to go on houseing lists When we sold our house we used more or less all of it to pay the bills from credit card companys we would have not been able to do an IVA So they would have just taken all the money anyway? Are both of you going bankrupt?because if you have enough money pay one persons debt off Thats what the CCCS said we should have done!

Hi Paul - both of us will have to go bankrupt. The debts are joint all the way down the line and are to big to transfer into one name, if that's even possible.

I can perhaps understand why landlords wouldn't want a recent bankrupt in their property, but I will wait until I am in a rental home before going ahead. I will also check the contract in advance!

Did you have help to go bankrupt, or did you just consult boards such as these, and the CCCS?

  • Well done that man.

May the future be bright for you.
