CAB Meeting

After two long weeks of waiting i have my interview with a CAB Advisor today at 3pm, he is going to go through all my options i have available to me apparetnly but i cant see a better option than bankruptcy, on top of my 50k debts i am looking at around 20k shortfall on my reposessed property

Thats if it sells at the asking price the estate agents have it up for!

And remember, it doesn't matter what they think is best, you don't need them to tell you you can go BR, they just need to explain the implications.

  • Hey, got back from the meeting about an hour ago, feel quite positive now that i know where i am going.

    Bankruptcy!

I am currently living with my dad so have alot of surplus as i only pay lodge and csa at the moment, his advice was to get my own place so i have virtually no surplus, this will prevent me from getting an IPA/IPO which i would probably get for 3 years while staying with my dad, once i am discharged then to have extra surplus i can look at renting with someone, getting a lodger, not have a car or worst case move back with my dad lol.

I have a 4 year old son so really do want my own place, its only fair.

Has anyone ever had trouble renting because i would have to do a credit check  , i could get my dad to be a guarantor and be credit checked so think i should be ok touch wood

Yeah like you say once BR you will fail all credit checks as the banks will hate you forever but with your dad as Guarantor you should be fine.

  • I am going to get my own rented property first before filing for BR, but credit check will still fail anyway without BR :rotfl:
  • Hi Homer.

Offer guarantor before they do cr checks...best to be totally up front & say that you will fail the cr chk....hence you are renting !!!

Great to hear you feel positive....there is help out there & take as much as is offered....BR is a positive step as it draws a line under your past situation & lets you move on.

Believe me you will never, ever want credit again !!!

  • Thanks SSA, thats some good advice, i will deffo do that, best to be honest and up front.... from now on anyway!!

I do believe you about the credit, my brother told me when i was 16, never get a credit card, its took me 11 years to now realise why

texting words on a internet forum sucks........av iv ov ur hav 4 u bn wich wot........crass
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

I think geoffyky is on about wolfie01's texting habit's and is nothing for you to worry about.
