  • My Daughter was bought a 3/4 size acoustc guitar from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5406575/c_1/1%7Ccat_12108813%7CMusical+instruments%7C12108878/Trail/searchtext%3EGUITAR.htm to learn on, i was concerned about the quality of an instrument this cheap but my husband who plays himself and owns several good quality guitars thinks it is brilliant.

  • Thanks for all your responses.

I did like the Argos one- the reviews were very good.

I was planning to buy it however I did a bit of googling and I found something called 'left -handed guitars'.. He's left -handed! I might give it a miss now.

Still need to get him his birthday pressie for Wednesday:confused:

I don't want any more Wii games, He's heavily in BEN 10 but nothing appeals to me right now- I bought him a Ben 10 blanket though....
  • If he is likely to go on to do guitar exams (Trinity Guildhall), make sure you get a classical and not acoustic. My son's guitar teacher gets these in for his students Jose Ferrer Guitar (I have actually bought a full size one for my son from the site I linked to). Plus if you ask his school and they provide lessons, you can arrange for them to buy it for you VAT free (you pay the school), under the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (there are details on this on most music shops websites).
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy

Bought the Home Bargains one for my son for xmas 2007. Sorted him out with private lessons and the inital strings it is supplied with are naff according to his instructor so took it to local guitar warehouse and had it restrung and have now been told it is a very good instrument to learn with.
