Shower Trouble - Which one to choose!!

My OH and I are currently in the process of fitting a new bathroom suite and are having some trouble with our shower! Our water pressure is very low and our plumber has advised us that the way to go is a power shower. We have been looking and are finding that they are few and far between!
We do prefer the look of a mixer and a pump however after speaking to our plumber again he advised against this as he says the pumps are extremley noisy, and in past cases he has been called back to remove the pump due to the noise!
Has anyone any experience of fitting a mixer and a pump? Have you found they are noisy? Also apart from the usual B & Q/Homebase, any advise on where you can find a nice powerhsower?! They all seem to be white and if we were going down this route we would be looking something a little more sleek, prob chrome instead!
Thanks in advance!!

We have a Trevi one. It comes in various finishes (ours is chrome trimmed with gold). Yea, the pump is a bit noisy for the few minutes it's on and I think that's just the way it is. It's no big deal really and you just accept that you hear it in the background when someone is having a shower. It's not hugely unpleasant and I wouldn't let that put you off at all... I'd do it again. The plus side is a brilliant shower which is SO much better than the "non-power" or electric types. Just make sure you get a decent pump... they come in different pressures (bars? I think ours was 3 bar and is aqualisa). We went to Spendlove's at the bottom of the Grosvenor Rd. Get one... you won't regret it!

We were told that if the mains water pressure is low, you should get a tank pumped shower. We got an electric shower. It isn't a power shower, but would have what I would describe as normal pressure. The model is a Triton T90si. It is a bit noisy, but if it isn't on a wall with a bedroom on the other side it's fine.0
