DMP and mortgage break?

We are currently in a DMP with CCCS, I am just wondering if would be able to have a mortgage payment break (the CCCS advisor said we should save them for if we're in difficulty) We have a together mortgage with Northern Rock.

We have a holiday booked and paid for (pre-lightbulb moment) and planned to use a payment break to help towards the spending money.

My other problem is a charging order than NR loans are trying to obtain. (the hearing is next week) Will this effect the availability of a break if the CO is granted?

I'd like to get at least this one holiday in, it'll be the last abroad for about 6years! (till we're debtfree anyway!)

    Hi,

i would imagine if you are on a DMP then they wont allow you to take a payment holiday. Im struggling money wise at the mo and when i rang our lender (halifax) about a break they wouldnt do it as with the house prices dropping we are in negative equity, so if we took a break, it would be more they could lose out on IYSWIM. but i dont know, perhaps NR will be diff.

I cant help on the CO part.

Big big thanks to Niddy, sorely missed from these boards..best cybersupport ever!!
  • Call NR, they will tell you if you can take a payment holiday. If the mortgage initially allowed payment holidays then probably, though the CO may throw that up in the air.

If they say no, cancel the holiday I guess.
