Help! My broker has now said that the product we have chosen (3yr fix at 4.34% from Abbey with free val. survey) cannot be 'upgraded' to a hb survey by paying a top up fee. If we want a homebuyers we need to choose a diff product ( not appealing!) or , I guess, get our own surveyor in!
Can anyone share what they have paid for this- £450- £500? Don't know who to ask either- any tips?

Write on the mortgage application form for the valuer to contact you prior to valuing. He will ring you and you then ask him to do a home buyers survey and bill you privately for the difference.
