I wasn't sure where to post.
I bought a high chair for my 18mth old son in the first week of Jan 09. After using it for 3-4 weeks my son figured out how to unlock the table, now the table and his food ends up on the floor!
The mechanism is two small plastic levers which release the lugs from the recessed arms on the chair. I have noticed that the locks are too soft and too easy to press in compared to other cheap and expensive chairs.
I eventually got fed up with the chair and took it back to toys r us, firstly the member of staff on the counter said my son was too old for the high chair at 18months then she just said sorry there is no fault we cannot do anything. My reason for return is that I believe from my experience with the chair that the design is at fault or even the springs are too loose. Once it is locked into place it is difficult to pull off but the placement of the levers right by the seating area and the design of the locks make it easy to take off for the child - in my opinion it makes the high chair useless.
The manager said they can send it back to "Q&A" but she said that it was unlikely anything would be done as there was no fault.
I think that the chair is poorly designed and is not fit for purpose but how do I get that through to them? Am I wrong? If they agree to a credit I will take it and get a better model, this one was £50, the other ones in the same class have firmer springs and other brands have better placement of the locks.
Where do I stand?

You stand exactly as they say.
Unless you can proof it isnt fit for the purpose or broken - which I will bet you cant as it will have safety certificates etc - you arent entitled to anything.

My argument is that the locks are not tight enough (or the springs) making it too easy to press and unlock compared to other high chairs with a similar locking system.0
