Blockbuster Charges Before Trial Period is up?

I took out a blockbuster Free Trial on 9th Feb at 20:54. The Trial was for 14 days and I thought that if I cancelled my trial today I would not be charged.
When I checked my e-mails this morning, blockbuster had e-mailed me at 00:56 this morning to say that my package was changing and then took the payment at 9am this morning.
I'm annoyed that they can change the package over at midnight when they know that I'll be asleep and not have time to do anything about it. (There were no e-mails prior to this to say you will be charged tomorrow)
I've tried phoning them but it keeps saying that customer services is closed, or they put me on hold for 5 minutes then say to leave a message.
So I've e-mailed them twice but so far no response!!
I have now cancelled the package but I'm left with a £12 charge which I'm not happy about. I know I prob should have cancelled yesteday but I was away over the weekend so couldn't get online until this am.
Is there anything I can do. Their T&C's jsut say
"YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION PRIOR TO THE END OF ANY FREE TRIAL PERIOD IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY CHARGES BEING APPLIED TO YOUR CHOSEN CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD"
Well, I thought that if my free trial period started at 20:54 on 9th Feb then I would have until 20:53 on 14th to cancel
. If they count 9th as my first full day that's hardly fair as I was not a member for the majority of that day, and no DVD's were dispatched to me until 19:37 on 10th Feb.
Any advice on where I stand?
Lucy

If they count 9th as my first full day that's hardly fair as I was not a member for the majority of that day, and no DVD's were dispatched to me until 19:37 on 10th Feb.

I think you should have checked this first.
Why did you assume that just because you waited until the end of the day to sign up, their computers would take this into account?
Also, your 14 days were up yesterday - not today. Even if they had allowed you until 20.53.So you were not charged until the 15th day(today)! The T & C's clearly state you must cancel BEFORE the end of the trial period. You could have done that on any day from the 9th

Well I suppose it's a case of which day do you count as the first day, because although today is the 15th day from the 9th Feb, my membership didn't start until 20:54 so therefore the first full day was 10th Feb, so I was going by that.
What I'm trying to say is that, because I signed up so late in the evening I don't feel it's fair to count that day as the first FULL day as there was no way any DVD's would be sent out that day.
Also, the reason I signed up late in the eve, was because that was when I found the offer not because I waited until then to sign upAddicted to MSE, I can't resist a bargain0
