Mortgage for GP locum - proving difficult!

We're looking to do a re-mortgage so we can do a self build but it's proving to be a bit of a problem as my wife is a locum GP and so a lot of lenders class her as self employed and don't really want to touch us since she's only been doing that since August. Before that she was working in a GP practise for a year and in hospitals before that. We need to go on both our incomes so using just mine isn't an option.

I've spoken to some brokers who seem to think they can do something for us but just wondering if anyone has any experience of this sort of area or any advise?

Thanks

Dave

Dont understand the last bit - Spoken to a few brokers who have said they can do somethink for you - Surely bearing in mind you need specialist help - why not take them up on there kind offer - Or as an option, read a few posts by a chap called confused31, who said he could offer the same advice as mortgage brokers for free. Maybe he is worth a shout!

We will take them up on their offer if that is the best way to go but I just want to cover all bases and see if anyone else had any thoughts in case I've missed anything.

Sorry, was not meant to be a flippant answer, but your situation sounds quite complex, and bearing in mind the average joe is finding it almost impossible to get funding, I would see what a broker could offer if they say they have things that may help -

Think the self build market has been hit almost as hard as the new build in terms of lending criteria!

"Almost"? I would say that is putting it optimistically to be honest. There are definitely lenders out there that will look at it, as previously suggested get some specific advice from a broker.
  • That's fine. Sounds like going to a specialist broker (which we have) is the right thing to do.

    Thanks

Hope you dont mind, there is a guy on here Confused31, who appears to be the fountain of knowledge on difficult mortgages, so I've copied over for him - Dont expect any magic answers though!
