ASDA Home Shopping 'Green Vans'!

In certain areas ASDA are changing the way the deliveries are made, including 'Green Van' deliveries.

When you go to book your time slot, if there is a symbol of a van next to the time slot then another customer in your area has already booked an order so the van is already in your area!

This is great for us drivers - less distance between deliveries!
Also great for customers - less chance of a late delivery if the orders are in a small area
Great for the environment - less fuel poluting the atmosphere!
Also great for ASDA - less fuel costs!

Share your thoughts on this and have a look on the website and let us know if area is doing the 'Green Vans'?

Excellent news! My husband has been asking Tesco to do this for months, in fact on Saturday morning on our way out we were passed by two Tesco vans within literally two minutes, not very efficient! Well done to Asda. :T

It's good to hear that people agree to this... anyone would think I work for ASDA or something!!

It all starts tomorrow so let's see how it goes!

What a good idea, makes perfect sense to do this. Also they will be able to fit in more deliveries this way too.

Just have to persuade them to cut down on the number of plastic carrier bags they use for the deliveries now....

ETA Not in my area yet which is a shame, hope it isn't too long. Co Durham is mostly lots of villages spread out over miles of countryside, it would make sense to make it a green delivery area, far more cost efficient.

Well it all starts today in my store. My manager was there at 4am and I sent him a text at 6.30am and he said things were looking great!

It will take a while for customers to 'cotton on' that it will be better for everyone as most of today's orders will have been booked over the last 3 weeks, before the changes were announced.

I'll post on here tomorrow how my first 'new style' shift went.

I didn't realise this but then, I'm not in an area that Ocado deliver to.

There's been a few 'teething problems' today but everything seems to have gone ok. The main problem we've had is people not being able to go on the website at all earlier on. I'll have to see if I can log on now.

I can't get on it... something about transfering customers to new site.
