We are in the process of re-doing our bathroom. We were going to do it this time last year but builder, plumber, tiler etc. all too busy. Now however they are quieter and eager to do the work.

Last year we priced up the suite/tiles etc. we wanted and when asking for a discount were given 10% at most.

Today they are fighting for your business and I had 25%-30% off my bathroom suite and 15% off my tiles. I know I have saved money compared to last year's prices.:T :T

I would still be careful who you choose to do your work and not just go for price alone. Make sure you try to get recommendations if possible.

I'm using my regular builder who has done loads of work for me. He is very, very good but is usually inundated with work and as he is a long standing friend and does our work at a better rate we take lower priority. He said that people are now getting more nervous of committing themselves to getting work done and a few of his jobs have been delayed so he was free.

He also knows he gets loads of work from our neighbours seeing his van outside our house and they come into see what he's doing.

I agree there are loads of cowboys out there. I've still not forgiven the builder who extended our kitchen and replaced our bathroom for us 14 years ago for the havoc he caused and the crap job he did, oh and the huge over charging he tried on. Even today the builder doing our bathroom was complaiing about the bodged job that done previously on our bathroom.

We didn't have much notice and I'm exhausted having to get everything ordered and delivered this week but as suppliers can see I'm buying and not browsing they are much more accommodating.

The tile company and bathroom supplier I bought from today both said they have been very quite lately even with their trade supplies.
