Not to put damper on it, but having HD is not much benefit when the picture is rubbish.

Well not exactly rubbish, but far inferior to other brands which do not have HD.

Its not a case of a bargain, its a case of you get what you pay for with this one, I watched a DVD playing in Makro recently with this amongst other models on display and the difference between a quality brand and these no names is astounding particularly in dark scenes where the level of detail varies from NONE upwards.

Keep in mind that the sets in Makro and the like have been setup by numpties who know nothing about LCD's or just about anything else. I've seen this set and thought it was comparable to more well known names. Certainly better than the Acer that is around the same money.

given Makro are a wholesaler - is that price inc vat? If not, then it really isnt a great deal. I've seen swisstech before, true - some havent been that bad.. I thnk they use Hitachi screen (might be LG) but cannot be sure..

Either way, I'd probably still get that Samsung 32" HD one for £695 elsewhere on the bargain forum...
