Do you know what Hydrostatic Head measurement, given in the technical section. I should look for to camp in the UK this summer.

I wouldn't buy a tent with less than 2000. UK summers & downpours go hand in hand- a couple of sodden days & you may find an inferior tent will leave you soggy.

Yup, in our 2000 we got soaked in the heavy heavy rain. We packed up and went home.

Yeah, thats the thing with tents you generally get what you pay for.

Also it depends on how long you're going away for and of course where.

Weekends away dont need a high hydrostatic head but if you're away for a week then obviously pay a little extra and make sure the tent is a keeper.

Best thing to do is ask someone where ever you are buying from - most places have clued up staff on the departments
  • I have seen that they are opening a new shop in Stanningley in Leeds (on the site of the old Tradex). It looks like from the signs to be opening late April. Look out for some 1st day/week specials.:j :j
  • Keep this post high.

I may need a good one soon..

You shouldn't need any more than a 1500 for the UK if it's just standard holiday camping

hmm, wouldn't be so sure about this. I've camped for years and years and wouldn't advise anything under 2000 whereever you are camping, but especially in the UK.

A 1500 static head did nothing to fend off the rain at Glastonbury in 2007, nor in the Lakes last Summer. Go for above 2000 every time..

It's definitely worth stating that if you already have a decent enough tent which needs a little bit of TLC then you should seek out some of this stuff.

It's also worth applying to your new tent as it actually protects it from the damage caused by sunlight.
