Wedding - Venue Dressing Help

Hi,

I am now getting married (YIPPEE!!) in 2010, so excitied:D

I have chosen a local 4 star hotel for my wedding recpetion, but the room does look a bit bear, so I am going to get a venue dresser to do the room nice.

Spoken to the wedding co-ordinator and she does not have a recommended firm to deal with, but has given me a number of companies to deal with.

Totty Maudes
Big Balloon Company
Flower Heaven Weddings
Shapphires Decor
Chair Flair


They all have their own pro and cons, but I can not decide, as some are cheaper, but does that mean they are better.

Has anyone dealt with any of these companies, or have any views. Please help as I don't know who to choose.

I haven't come across any of these companies. The way to choose is to choose a style that you like at the price you can afford. You still have a plenty of time to start looking for a supplier that you can work with. Have you asked the venue if they use anyone in particular?

Congrats on your wedding! Mine is in 3 weeks 5 days and counting!!

Check out all their websites as most companies have a gallery where you can view photos of previous rooms they have decorated. That should give you more of an idea of what they can offer you.

We are decorating our own venue. I found that by buying balloons, flowers myself were cheaper than through a venue dresser. Most hotels will allow you in to decorate the day before so you don't have to worry about it on the day of the wedding.

Iam doin the venue my self with the help of my mum and 2 close friends alot cheaper that way x

Hi all,

Thanks for the help, I don't want to do it myself as I want to get rid of as much pre-wedding stress :mad: as possible, but thanks for the suggestion.

I have looked at the websites and here is what i think

Totty Maudes - okay website, but only shows prices for total packages, which I dont really want.

Big Balloon Company - okay website, not many pictures of venues, but lot for balloons. Also only shows prices for total packages, which I dont really want.

Flower Heaven Weddings - good website, with two galleries. Prices come in packages and a create your own checkout.

Shapphires Decor - Good website, also only shows prices for total packages, which I dont really want. With a couple of nice galleries.

Chair Flair - Very good website, shows prcies individually and a very nice gallery.

I have spoke to the hotel at Haydock and they have suggested all of these companies, but I may search further a field, especially if no-one has used them or heard of them.

I am tied between them, so I will go to a wedding fayre in hope to see one or more of the companies.

Also quick question, is cheaper always better as one company is cheaper than the others, not by much, but for a 100ish quests its enough.

Hello again,

I need some advice again, I eventually decided on my venue dresser and put the matter to bed. I have recently received a letter from then stating that they are changing names in an attempt to target their market audience.

They wear called Flower Heaven Weddings and have rebranded to Chair Angels. According to the letter it states that they used to be florists, but now specialise in venue decoration, hence the name change.

Do I have cause for concern? or could this be a genuine renaming?

Please help, I am going to ring the lady who sent me the letter, but I am unsure on what exactly to ask.

Oooh I'm getting married there in 53 days. I'm very excited!!

Becky, the wedding co ordinator told me that if I gave them all my decorations and told them exactly how I wanted it they would set it up for me. I bought my balloons from here:

They are smaller than usual but are perfect to stick on peoples' fridges to remind them and he is very good, not printing anything until you are happy, the prices are fab too. He does other matching stationery too.

I shouldnt worry about the re-branding, its not unusual - it maybe that they didnt do much floristry work and ended up doing more chair covers. Chair Angels seem a more appropriate name for a company providing chair covers whereas Flower Heaven Weddings doesnt really say much.

Thank you for the advice, I rang the lady who owns Chair Angels last night and had a chat about everything.

The rebranding was just due to them doing more chair cover and venue decoration business over the past 2 years and the number of phone calls wear people wanted flowers, which they had stopped doing 18 months ago.

She was totally understanding if I felt worried about the rebranding and if I wanted to cancel, I could with the full return of my deposit. This put me at ease as well, as if there was something wrong they would not give me my deposit back - would they?

She has offered to come and see me again, if I need to see, review or discuss anything, which I though was nice.

oh I am getting married at the thistle at Haydock.
