  • how about a collage poster of his family and friends. Can roll it up and pop it in a thin tube to protect it and that shouldn't take up to much room.

I bought these fridge magnets from Asda, £1 a pack of 2. They're 6x4 size and you can put your own photos in to them, could make little collages to go into them.

You could also do a book of emergency contact numbers, or an address book with everyone he knows details as well as their birthdays.

If you keep an eye out on grabitnow.com you can get those digital key ring photo albums quite cheap. Could get him one of them and fill it with photos you know he'd like.

  • How about one of those plastic expandable wallets you could label it up with the date week month - he could then put little mementos and keepsakes of his time in the States then when he gets back you could collage them all together

I did Camp America twice years ago. He won't have a lot of space in his rucksack or in his cabin if it's like the places I went to so the idea of a collage (but not especially big, try to stick to A4 or A3 at biggest) is a great one. If it's his first time away from home or out of the UK he might have some homesickness so maybe some homebaked goodies for the first couple of days would be good.

Probably the best thing you can do is keep in touch though- regular letters are great at camp as they're unlikely to have email/ access to the internet.

I hope your brother has a fab time.
