Well we are due to exchange & complete on our 1st house next mon/tuesday.
This is a good thing, but throwing all the savings at the debt meant we had nothing to cover fees & stamp duty, so as you can see from my sig 1 year of MSE & furious eBaying has gone down the drain as my CCs are right back where they were last January. £800 in savings, but needed for damp treatment. Without that year we wouldn't be in a position to buy in the first place.
One good thing is we spoke to our neighbour since there is some damp in the party wall & she had a different firm out who offer 30year guarantees - 10 years longer than our quote & possibly cheaper - they were a good 1.5k cheaper for her than other firms.
Another possible good thing is my Egg anniversary is Sept so I will only pay interest in July & August. I say possible since I've had the card since 2001 & it's never clear from 1 year to the next if i'll get the offer. I do have a possible 6.9% LOB from barclaycard, but doubt they'll increase my limit high enough.
I realise this post looks very self-indulgent since I'm not in nearly as bad as position as many on these boards - we weren't struggling with repayments just trying to be Debt-free.

Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
