How does tesco clubcard work?

Hi guys,

I have a tesco club card and have about 1300 points, i'm just a bit confused as to how it works. I've looked at the FAQ on tesco site but i still dont totally get it, i use sainsbury's and the nectar points system is so much easier and you can use them when you want.

So a few questions about the club card points;

How do i get to spend them?

can i only spend them when i get my statement?
- do i have to use the points or can i save them all up?

I've heard the points are worth more in club card deals, how does this work?

Tesco will send you paper vouchers (or should do). You can then use these paper vouchers to apply for the various deals. Your 1300 points is worth £13 in vouchers, which is worth £52 in deals (multiply by 4)!

I am saving for the summer. Already have enough vouchers for a theme park trip (£28 in vouchers), am now saving for a trip to a certain chocolate factory.

Damn good one is if you use Powergen for your elec and/or gas..... 1 point on your clubcard for every pound spent on the fuel!!!!

If you use a credit card, get a Tesco one - you get points just for spending on it (I think its half a point/£ where as in-store its 1 point/£).

We went to EuroDisney with ours last year and are going again this year (its paid for the travel and accommodation)....in effect a "free" holiday!

We used one lot of vouchers for Legoland (would have cost us £80 but with the deals cost us £20).

Don't ever spend the vouchers in-store (you only get face value off your shopping)...always use the deals (4x the value).

By the way - vouchers last for 2 years. The ones you get in Feb 2006 expire in Feb 2008, so its well worth saving them for something big. You download the Club Card Deals Order Form from their website and print it off - fill it in, send it off and within a few days you get your printed vouchers. You need to know what you want to use them for before you send them off (ie, Cresta Holidays, Cosmos Holidays, Legoland etc etc)

Tesco send out the vouchers 4 times a year, so you should get £13 of vouchers in the post in the next few days as there is a voucher mailing in February. You can choose to spend £13 in store, or much better value, exchange for Deals (like rchddap1 says) which can be used on a whole host of things, ranging from holidays to car servicing.

Each of these vouchers has a 2 year expiry date, so you can spend them immediately, or save them up to buy a really big purchase. We went to New Zealand last year courtesy of Tesco clubcard deals, so well worth it!

wow i'm really excited now just cheked out those links......havent been on a holiday since 1997!! i want to earn more points i always go for the money off voucher discount codes but i might switch to points coupons now!!

when I rang the points line it said all vouchers should be received by 9th Feb but I haven't had mine yet

My balance has just changed, so they must be sending the vouchers out, so if i want to save them what do i do?
do i have to save the paper vouchers?
will it be added back to my account?

We are going to Haven in August for a week in the top Caravan for £499 or 12500 points courtesy of Mr T. This quarter I have enough points for our 2007 holiday.

When you receive your paper vouchers save them and when you have enough to book your holiday - send them off Special Delivery with a Clubcard deals application form and you should receive the Deals Vouchers back within a couple of days...you can then phone up and book your holiday, but you need to send the deals vouchers to the holiday company by Special Delivery within 3 days of booking or yu'll lose your holiday.
