Wedding Advice for a Mixed Wedding (Inc: Insurance/DJ etc)

Hi All,

My Sikh fiance and I are getting married this June and as she's currently in India getting our Indian ceremony clothes, invites and a few other wedding pieces, I thought I'd get some of the other stuff out of the way.

One of which is the serious wedding insurance. As we're having the Sikh 'wedding' on the Saturday (with the Civil Wedding - with the registrar - and the reception on the Sunday), should I look at doing two seperate insurance policies (One for each day)? Can anyone recommend any good wedding insurance sites? I've been googeling around, but I thought a few of you MSE's may have some better suggestions. :cheesy:

Also, I'm considering hiring DJ's from a company called Dream Team Roadshow as they specialise in Indian weddings/Punjabi Music as well as 'mixed' weddings, so the delicate balance of Punjabi and non-Punjabi is kept. Has anyone here ever used them? What should I expect to pay? They're quoting £500 for:

- Dj
- lntelligent lighting
- haze
- 20u TFT racks
- bubbles
- confetti
- 1 Dholi.
- flames
- pictures online

Does that sound like a decent price? Also, as I've never been married before, I don't - really - have much of an idea of what else I should try and help with. I've paid for our RTW honeymoon flights (which we got for a really good price), but (and no doubt I'm being a 'typical' bloke here) is there anything else I should/could do?

If any MSE's have ever been a part of a mixed wedding (particularly Indian and non-Indian) and have any suggestions (even in general), I'd be eternally grateful! :D

Thanks!

  • I have to admit I have no idea on reasonable pricing. Sorry!

Why not ask your (future) Lady Wife what you can do to help. I am sure she will be bowled over by the offer, and then you can work out between you where each of your strengths lie in organising your wedding.
