Hey all
I'm looking for a cheap weekend break in Manchester Sat 28th-Mon 30th March.
The Britannia Sachas hotel is coming up as £84 total for the 2 nights.
But the reviews on tripadvisor are awful!! But the hotel *looks* really nice on various websites and has ok reviews elsewhere.
Has anyone been there? I would like to know what it's like.
I'm not expecting 5* luxury, just somewhere clean and tidy to sleep in at night in a central location.
TIA

I've never actually been to the Britannia Sachs, but it is in a very central location. It's about 5 mins walk from the train station and if you just want clean and tidy, I'd go for it.
But it just has this look about it that I can't quite put my finger on. Like a middle-aged woman who you know used to be stunning but has now gone to seed.
I know that doesn't really help, especially because I've no knowledge of what it's actually like inside. There are a couple of Premier Travel Inns quite central too, and they'd be a lot cheaper, I suspect.
Sorry I can't be more use!Goals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
The bar area below can be a bit iffy, it is usually open in the day time selling drinks extremely cheaply, sometimes frequented by people who just want to drink and drink and drink without spending too much (no pub atmosphere though)0

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't do it!!!!
I have stayed there, yes it is central but it is absolutely awful - they have security on the corridors at night, a lot of rooms are internal (ie no windows!) and the walls are paper thin.
It is cheap for a reason. You would be better off in premier travel inn or jurys, they have regular deals.
Look for the free buses while you're there too - called the metro shuttle I think, they run around the city on routes 1 2 and 3.0 -
I was in the Britannia Hotel in Coventry last week (same chain) and it was very basic but cheap enough.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
