Can anyone help?
I had the most delicious pasta sauce last night at La Scala on the A59 between Preston and Blackburn and I've been looking for a recipe on here and elsewhere on the internet. It was DEFINITELY called Tortelloni Alfredo on the menu, but it was tomato-based, which none of the recipes I can find are - they're more cream cheesy type ones. It was really, really tasty and I'm itching to find out how to make it.

Have you looked at the menu online - http://www.lascalarestaurant.co.uk/flash_menu/LaScala.pdf
Can't see the dish you mention on there; does it sound like any of the others? I'd suggest emailing the chain and asking - if you don't want to make it sound like you want to cook it at home rather than go back to their restaurant, maybe say your friend/relative has a food intolerance (e.g. dairy / mushrooms) and want to know what goes into it as you recommended it to them to try but want to make sure it's ok for them...0 -
Have you tried asking the restaurant for the recipe? Some are more than willing to shareBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

When I've had alfredo and then made it at home I fry off some onions, garlic, mushrooms and ham add some passata and some creme fraiche so it isn't tomato-y like bolognaise but it isn;t creamy like carbonara - is this what you mean?

Also a good way to find out whether you're being served restaurant-cooked food or a glorified ready meal!
As someone who has severe food allergies I have to be really careful. You'd be amazed how many places - from the biggest chains to the smallest family-run affair - buy their food in and either send you a load of printed-off ingredient lists or, worse, tell you they don't know what is in their food. One large pub chain that shall remain nameless sent me a letter telling me that I wasn't welcome to eat in their pubs at all any more because "our food is factory-produced, and as recipes may change without warning from time to time, we are unable to guarantee the content of our foods". While I'm glad that they are upfront about these things, I can't help wondering if people realise that they're paying so much for a ready meal.0
