Is anybody here not having a night do for their wedding

We are planning a day wedding (eg ceremony, lunch and then home time).

Is anybody else doing this? Do people think you are mad for not having a night do and dancing?
TIA

It's your day, if that's what you want and how you want it then that's absolutely fine :)

My parents keep telling me that night dos are a relatively new thing anyway. Back in their day the bride and groom would leave after the wedding breakfast to go on honeymoon, leaving the guests to carry on partying if they wished :)

I never had a night do as such.

The wedding party took on the locals in the bar across the courtyard from the hotel at pool and darts (no music or dancing)

    The wedding party won both!!!

We are having the ceremony, then a sit down meal. We may be having some sort of singing but not inviting anyone else and not providing any more food.

We're having a civil ceremony at 11am, then an afternoon reception at our favourite restaurant at lunchtime until about 6pm. There's going to be about 50 of us in total - then HTB and I are off to posh suite in a lovely hotel for a couple of nights while our guests can do whatever they feel like! They're going to be waited on hand and foot during the day - the food and booze we're having is fabulous - and even better, we're not being overcharged because of the 'W' word!

I cant wait and I think its entirely up to you what you do on your special day!

We're getting married at 11am then a long, leisurely wedding breakfast and we've booked a cabaret function room for the party in the evening and back to the wedding venue for our wedding night.

It's going to be a very long day!!

But personally, I'd feel a bit odd going home early - I'd probably feel a huge sense of anti-climax (this way, at least that's delayed til the next morning! LOL).

We don't go out that much anyway, with five kids and beggar-all money, so I'm damn well staying out late just this once!!

I went to my friend's wedding, which finished at about 8pm. She and her new DH went to their posh hotel and the rest of us either went home or went to the pub. She'd told us all beforehand what the plan was, so no one was shocked, and everyone was quite happy with it.

I think it worked for hers cos there were a lot of older guests, who wouldn't have wanted to party anyway. But everyone understood that the two of them wanted to spend some time alone together, and not get too drunk to celebrate themselves.
    Nobody I'd rather be ;)

We didn't have a night do - but that was because it was xmas eve and I knew people would have xmas eve things to do.

We did pop out to the pub for a drink (just me and DH) whilst SIL sat with DS in the evening which was nice :)

Do whatever you want to do and don't worry about what others think. We didn't do anything "normal" and I didn't care if i upset anyone because it was MY day;)
