creditor chasing me by phone again

Hello all, my second post and just letting off steam a it here.

Have been in a DMP for 3 years. Was paying £700 a month out of £1100 approx take home pay. This was crippeling me so I had to do a reduced payment for one month and the got CCCS to reduce my plan to £560 a month. (i still think it's a bit high but I wanna get out of debt.)

Trouble is one of my creditors has started phoning me again about it. Problem is that I live with my father and who is not a well man and still trying to get over the recent death of my mother. These phone calls are really upsetting and distressing him.

I contacted my creditors some time ago (when my father was unexpecidly rushed into hospital with a suspected heart attack) and they all seemed agreeable to only contact me at work. I had 3 calls from Barclay's yesterday (presumaby not happy that I have had to reduce payments) and this in turn lead to a major row between me and my father. My home situation is not good at the moment and I am going to lose the roof over my head if anything happens to my dad cos he has got it into his head that my debts mean that I will have the house taken off me by my creditors if he leaves it to me and nothing I or anybody else can say is going to change his mind.

Needed to get that off my chest. Thanks for listeneing.

    hi
you do not need to speak to them at all---at work or anywhere else. There is a letter on here to send them pointing out that to continue to contact you by phone after you have told them not to is harasssment--afraid I don't know where it is, but I expect one of the clever bods will be able to let you know. (or "search" it?)
I changed my phone number, if you don't want to do that you can ask the phone co to ignore certain numbers, I think BT charge about £3.50, money well spent.

The important point is that you should not "speak" to them anyway, always keep it in writning.

I am sorry to hear about your father, you could do without this at the moment.

When you write to them insisting they delete your phone numbers from their records you can end the letter by saying that if the phone calls continue you will have no alternative but to consult with the Financial Ombudsman on the matter. I think the Office of Fair Trading has further info on its website that might help.

You've got to be really firm with these people and tell them not to call you. My boyfriend did it for me as I'm a pansy but they haven't called since.
