How much grocery budget on SOA?

How much will the OR allow? generally?
We are 2 adults, with a 9 month old baby (she now has formula milk if that makes any difference as I am back at work!)

Thanks so much :)

An adult is normally about £180-£190 depending on how generous your OR is feeling on the day:rolleyes: .I would say about half for a child. That is open to discussion though as all ages bring about different costs:D .Dx

Along these lines, does anyone know how much the charities such as CCCS would allow for this on your budget. I have a baby on the way and will have to reduce my payments to them from June. Just wondering how much they will allow for.

    Thanks

I've got £100 a month on mine so it would work out at £200 a month for me + my boyfirend, obviously with a baby I was hoping they'd allow me a bit more, just wondering how much?

  • you have nappies and extra baby things to buy, I would put down £300 -£350 if they knocked it down they would prob only drop to £250 start high and barter if you have to!

The OR should consult their technical manual which gives details about what should be counted as acceptible expenditure:

    http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls

They do not have a category for 2 adults and 1 child, however 2 adults alone they suggest £394 and 2 adults with 2 children they suggest £501. I would suggest to go halfway between and ask for about £450.

The worst that can happen is that the OR says that he/she thinks it's too high and will tell you they want to reduce it, but if you don't ask, you don't get!

    Hope this helps!

    Interesting link

I didn't realise we could have put so much down for food/housekeeping, when i went BR i think we put down £240 a month but then upped it to £300 when i did an IPOQ for my pay rise as thats what we were spending if we were careful, we could easily spend £400 if we weren't careful with what we buy. And clothing £119 per couple  , we did £20 each and then upped it to £60 when i actually worked out what it cost in real terms.

I think on OH's IVA application they were only allowing us £220 for housekeeping and £20 for clothing.

Gas/Electric and water seem low on the spreadsheet

Living expenses in BR are more generous than IVA.

Hi we were in a similar position to you when went went BR.

    2 Adults & 1 Child aged 16 months.

Our OR allowed us £540 per month for housekeeping.

Very fair we thought, i think it depends on the OR though.

Better to put down too much and be knocked down, then putting not enough and struggling like hell.
