Cheap Travel to Isle Of Wight?

Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me, we are going to the Isle of Wight Festival in June and currently trying to find a reasonable deal on getting from the mainland across to the island. Does anyone know of any vouchers codes, discounts etc or generally any way to make it a bit cheaper?

At this rate may end up swimming!

TIA
Sunny Angel

  • I expect the cheapest way across is as a foot passanger on the fast cat after noon, otherwise there is not much difference between a two singles and a standard return. Also may be worth looking at hovercraft, but I expect all these businesses are geared up for the influx for the festival and will probably hold back any offers or promotions around that time. You may also want to be aware of the extortionate prices of the bus travel on the island, they are total bandits.
  • Mr Tesco's still does ferry crossings to the Isle of Wight. So if you have any club card points it's worth looking into thats if your going by car.

    Hi Sunny Angel,

If you're a member of the Tesco Clubcard scheme you can convert the vouchers into clubcard deals with WightLink Ferries.
    http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=168

Just remember to convert your vouchers in plenty of time. Once you've converted them you'll get a Wightlink voucher. You'll then have to ring the ferry company and you'll only be allowed to book a sailing 14 working days in advance. (http://www.wightlink.co.uk/)

    Enjoy the festival!

I think you have to book at least 14 days in advance if you are using tesco clubcard vouchers. Might be worth ringing up to ask and check how many vouchers you need to convert.
  • The worst thing about living on the Isle of Wight is the cost of the ferries. For a car over festival weekend the price will be huge!

Red Funnel has been consistently cheaper than Wightlink for the last year or so.
  • some iow festival tickets include travel in the price, but if you havent got that then the hovercraft is the cheapest and quickest way plus you never get as big ques as you do on the fastcat.
  • red funnel may be cheaper im not sure but it depends what side of the mainland you leave from i leave from portsmouth, they never really do promotions around that time as they know the service is going to be used
