Ah yes, they've lost £28 billion

But you will be relieved to read Jay Levine is not living in poverty:
Jay Levine, former head of RBS’s American investment-banking operations, who led the bank’s charge into sub-prime loans, left in late 2007 – after receiving close to £40m in pay and bonuses over three years.
It won't happen but I'd love to see the power to claw back past bonuses introduced, or the ability the sue people like that for incompetance.
  • this is probably a thread hijack, but does anyone know if this would affect themortgage that I'm due to take out with them in the next week or so? I'm worried that I might end up having to scramble around for a new mortgage and get the place surveyed again etc. all in less than a week.

nah, it was the incompentnece of those who wrote the bonuses at fault. clawing back bonuses is fukking commie !!!!!!.

    Crikey, I'm rather intoxicated!

Good for you. You still make more sense than most of the mouth-breathers on here.

Seems a fine use of savings to me seeing as how no one will pay me any decent interest. I'm working my way through a nice bottle of wine right now. Everything I type I have to go back and correct at least 3 times.

You can get those odds? Sounds rather tempting. After all even sticking your money in a boring bank stands a chance of losing the principal too these days.

Actually I was thinking of splitting my own business in two.....

I thought I'd get a list of all the people I owe money and put them in the "Bad" bit....then all the stock, the premises and the people who owe me money in the "Good" bit.....I'll then just ignore the "bad" bit and it will go away, kind of like a bad smell...it will cling on a little while an be a bit of a nuiance but will gently fade away and be forgotten about.

I'll then inform HMRC that I've lost so much money, that not only will they not get paid this year, they'll actually have to pay me...about 10 times my gross annual turnover....

Then for being such a damn sharp chap, I'm going to pay myself a huge stonking bonus whilst I laugh in the face of all the naysayers that suggest we're in some sort of economic downturn.

I'm also going to claim my shed as "Second Accomodation" necessary for business and constiuency work and claim an expense of £10,000 a month to cover it...the Rabbit's won't mind if I stay in there a couple of nights a week.

Actually I've come to the conclusion that it's blindingly obvious I should be running the country with skills like this....Now where do I place that Deposit for the next election?

cheers, those fifteen o's in my name are me when I exhale

    You possess a nose flute?
  • will make no difference, good luck!

although you'd be much better off not buying the property and waiting at least six months :p
Noted! It's just time to move!:p
it's a real corker though - got it at a price we wanted to pay for it, and it's going to be a keeper - at least for the foreseeable future! :D
(that's how I justify it to myself each day);)

..understand at the very least black scholes.

But Scholes is ginger!? :D I'm obviously out of my depth..

I don't bet on financials, the financial markets are a mugs game. I stick to more predictable honorable stuff like Eurovision.
