Hi, I'm a bit of a mobile phone novice and after years of having samsung, i bought a sony ericsson k800i about a year ago, and i loathe the damn thing, and have never got used to it and find it difficult. i want to buy another phone, i'm looking at a samsung u600, but i'm wondering what i could do to get the best deal. on a phone recycling site i can get £30 for my old phone and i was thinking of buying a new one, and getting the cheque.
are there any places that would give me more than this on perhaps a part ex sort of thing, or is that only for contracts?
i'm looking to go on orange from 02 if that helps as thats what i've always been on, and texts are a big thing for me. the orange shop does some good changeover deals and decent prices. but if i buy online from them i doubt i'll get any part ex or cashback. Does anybody know where the cheapest place is to buy a mobile? carphone watrehouse look pretty cheap, but as i say i know little about this kind of thing, and wondered if any phone savvy people had better advice.

how much are you willing to pay each month on your mobile?.
if you are going to spend about £35 a month then i would suggest
1. go through a cashback site eg,quidco ,cashbackkings.
2.try phones4u as they offer cashback incentives to take out a contract .
3.use one of the cashback sites to then recycle your phone
or flog it on an auction site
sorry just read that you want to stay pay as u go0
