Going to Lanzarote with Aer Lingus later in year. Anyone comment on their experiences with this airline. Anyone used online check in and bag drop at the airport?

Have only travelled to New York with them (from Dublin) but had really good experiences with them on both occasions.0

I used the online check in and bag drop while travelling to Heathrow last month, went very smoothly and I waltzed to the front of the check in queue, handed over my bag and headed to security within 5 minutes, it was quiet though.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Have flown frequently with Aer Lingus from Belfast to London and once to Lanzarote - no problems at all, great flights and great service.Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Aer Lingus are one of the better budget airlines IMO because you get your seat allocated when you check in online and you can pick from the available seats. If you're checking in bags and just taking reading material on the plane then you can sit and wait til all the crazy queuing and pushing to get on first is over then feel relaxed before you've even left. Same on the way home if you have net access in the hotel/find an internet cafe.
They have never changed flight times on me - unlike Ryanair who've changed flights from first thing in the morning to 10pm at night, and I've never had a flight cancelled or delayed by more than an hour. You can join their gold circle loyalty programme for free and email them to add the flight miles once you get home too, and all your future bookings store your details -once when I went slightly over the weight allowance I got away with it free because I was a frequent flyer -and it was only my third flight!"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." flew with them to lanzarote in november and were fantastic. heated babys bottle and food for me. very helpful and felt like the seats were a good size. good leg space. staff helpful. only warning is on way back, the queues at lanzarote check i nwere horrendous and we were there 3 hours before and was very warm not good to be standing with a hungry baby in that heat.love you lots like jelly tots

any airline better than ryanair..............0

I flew with them last weekend to Paris and it was so much more relaxed than with easyjet, ryanair and jet2. The flights were on time, there were no queues at check in and I could reserve seats.
I just wish they flew to more destinations so I don't have to go back to the other cheap thrills airlines.0 -
i forgot to say that the pitch of their seats is bigger than the other cheap airlines which makes the trip more endurable.0

Used them several times. They are ok. New aircraft and allocated seating give them an edge on some of the competition. Service depends on whether you get local crew or imports from Dublin. Biggest problem I see is the constant changing of the route structure with AMS gone and others to follow. Lanzarote is their best route out of BFS though so I don't see any changes there. Although seat pitch is better at the emergency exits the seats don't recline and seem locked slightly forward of vertical which is uncomfortable after a while. Better sticking to ordinary seats for a longer flight. Punctuality is ok too..they have 'legacy airline' turnaround times during which they can make up time if late inbound.Timmay!0
