FTB - Advice Needed

My partner and I are currently in the process of buying our first home, so far everything seems to be going to plan (touch wood  )
However, we were advised recently that the insurance company need access to medical records for the life policy.
Before I had my little one (he is 9 months old) I had a history of depression and received medication and counselling on numerous occasions..ironically I have never had time off work for this.. (and have also managed to hold down a series of high level management jobs)
I was also involved in a car accident which has left me with back problems - again I was been given medication and numerous courses of physiotherapy for this problem
I have not had time off for this in 2 years though..
I was honest and admitted to these problems when asked of them, but now I am getting really worried and upset that I am going to stop the insurance company from going ahead..
Can someone please give me any advice on these kind of scenarios?? (My boyfriend says I am being a drama queen ..again
Thanks in advance.

Don't worry, I am sure that everything will be ok. You will go and see an independent Dr and they do a routine check up, listen to your heart, check your weight, ask you about your lifestyle etc.. Nothing too intrusive.
The worst case scenario that I could imagine in your situation is that they may add a small amount of extra money to your premium to cover the risk if the Dr finds any issues with your health. This can happen for smoking, drinking too much, being overweight, your job being stressful (blood pressure) and even lack of exercise so it doesn't have to be for the medical instances you described.
I know that it is natural to worry but you will be pleasantly suprised, I think, how it will all go.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They're really only concerned that you don't drop dead within a couple of years of
taking out the mortgage. I've managed to get life cover with similar history.0 -

Quite agree with the sentiment except the worst case scenario would be that, if you hadn't disclosed the medical details, any claim on the policy would have been turned down.
Most insurers are ok with the sort of history you describe.
SSI am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0
