Forced to Move to job role - Can i claim for Grievance

What is your response going to be if he says it is the needs of the business that has forced him to make these changes and they can't afford the overtime and oncall anymore?
i do not think this is the case at all, as there has been a recent headcount forecast shows they are looking for a increase of at least 10 extra IT staff in 2009.0 -
1) my current role is still valid, it is is the job i am doing now and no changes have been made recently - So who would do this if you did the other work?
2) Without any realistic career progression i cannot see how i can progress in the role they are pushing me into. Most guys in that team are really young, i have been in the IT for over 10 years and feels a step backward to me personally. Its like going back to work in a 1st level role. Why do they now need extra cover in that area?
3) Basic salary has not changed over last 3 years. My overtime and on call has been consistent over the last 5 years. Perhaps they are now looking to scale back on non-basic wage costs. Quite common and there would be no means of claiming compensation - unless there is a clause guaranteeing overtime in your contract
Perhaps the reason they are looking to recruit is that it may be a more effective way to cover what is currently being done with overtime.
They may be looking to recruit more junior (cheaper) staff to do this work.
TBH I cannot see any grounds for compensation - sorry
EDIT - in your first post you mentioned that you are being asked to work more hours for no extra pay? Is this the case? Have your core hours changed?
That in my view, would be a material change in your contract0 -
My current core hours are 9-5, the service desk operates on shift rotas which just on core hours is more than i currently work. No extra Allowances have been mentioned so far.Perhaps the reason they are looking to recruit is that it may be a more effective way to cover what is currently being done with overtime.
