I told them that they didn't need that much and so agreed an increase to £70 only, if there was any surplus left at the end of the year then I would pay it then., but I dont anticipate it as I have drastically reduced my consumption and hopefully prices should be coming down soon (thieving, robbing barstewards that they are!!).
I have the same with Swalec. I'm on my own so don't live in a mansion (I wish!) but in a 2 up, 2 down job and I'm out at work all day so my electricity consumption is minimal and I'm on the E7 tariff. I was paying £30.00 pm but they wanted to up it to £118.00 pm  but I told them where they could stick it and told them I'd take my business elsewhere - we eventually agreed on £36pm. Cheeky beggars!
I only have one heater on and that's on low - so if I get cold, I just get my dressing gown on or wear a jumper.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Make sure you read your meters. I got stuffed once as I was paying for an estimated reading so when they came to read the meter, they found that I had not been paying enough and hiked up my payments to cover the extra useage. Not Swalec though - they just thought they'd try and pull a fast one!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Have got rid of the electiric heater in my bedroom
Shower works off the hot water in the hot water tank - from gas boiler
Only do a hot wash occasionally if stuff won't come clean at lower temp
Don't have a tumble dryer
All lights in whole house are energy saving bulbs
I think I need to read the meters more often and work out how much my usage is really costing me. It might motivate me to change. And yes, I'll certainly start by confiscating any DVD found playing to an empty room.
Sounds like you are well on track here. :T Firstly you might confiscate the DVD itself, if that doesn't work take the DVD player for 24 hours, then perhaps the DVD player and the TV ... If they do it again, it's 48 hours etc. Warning before the new system starts, but no relenting once you get going: they will get into new habits very quickly!
