John Lewis price reductions..??

I want to buy a desktop PC from JL. I have noticed that when I phone the store to see if something is in stock, they look at the JL website first...then the shop...anyway, the PC I was interested in was £489 about 2 months ago..now it is £440...again I have noticed that sometimes (usually when items are about to be "deleted") prices really drop..e.g. a sony TV went from about £600 to £310..but I missed out. So, apart from checking the JL website everyday..any other tips?

John Lewis change their prices every single day in line with their policy "never knowingly undersold". I can tell you this much that they look at what Asda are charging and either charge the same or slightly less.

If you find the exact product elsewhere get JL to price match it ..and add a 5 year guarantee.

The 'NKU' policy is different to each store & does not apply to on-line sales, some stores have a local competitor that they will match but a store in another town will not match it. This does not stop you calling Oxford Street and having it delivered to an address in Chorley, they will charge you the price that the item is on sale for in that store, not your local area.

Deleted lines are always the cheapest but it is often diffecult to get stock of them, and you cannot reserve them for pick up.

Not sure why you say JL 'look at Asda' it really does depend who is the stores main competitor in the town, some might have a Walmart close by, others may have other retailers near who have a big selection.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • There are also what are called "central undersales" - systems pick up on when undersales are occurring in a lot of branches and in theory the relevant buying office can elect to apply this undersale across all branches including online.
