Dell 5150 - £505 delivered including 17" TFT

Latest offer I spotted on the Dell website. Best one for a few weeks I reckon. Almost identical to the one I have and that works great:

Evalue code D-D02512a

3.0GHz Pentium 4 630
512MB Memory (2x256MB DDR400)
250GB SATA HDD
16x DVD+/- RW
E176FP 17" TFT monitor
128MB X300SE graphics card
On-board sound
13 in 1 media card reader
Windows XP Home SP2, Works 7.0

The mouse included - Dell wheel mouse - is complete rubbish. I suggest you throw it away and buy a decent one (I kid you not - don't even take it out of the packet, just chuck it). The Dell ones are too expensive so don't bother with them. The memory chips are OK and there are 4 memory slots so presumably you could double the memory by adding a further 512MB without any problems?

No speakers or modem. Downgrade the warranty to 1 year collect and return. Total price £505.32 delivered - not bad for a middle range machine with upgrade options. Comes complete with a power cord, which I think is very generous of them.

I haven't had time to look through to see if there are any other deals on, but this one stood out from the ones I did look at.

UPDATE:
Sorry - also just noticed a similar machine:
Dimension 9150, P4 630, 1GB DDR 2 533 memory, 160GB HDD, 17"TFT, DVD Rom and CD/RW, 256MB X600 graphics, no modem speakers etc. £505 delivered - code D-D02911
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.

Usually when you buy a dell machine you can 'upgrade' to a dell optical mouse which is also a wheel mouse but much better, for zero cost. Of course, this isn't the default selection!!!
The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster! :)

You can't anymore as they've corrected that 'error'!! :(
