Ours has been used almost every day since it arrived in December - it's a revelation to have edible bread when you need it, that hasn't gone like concrete, or mouldy - bread with a proper texture, bread that you know has flour, yeast and water and nothing else in it - like bread should be..... not a chemical concoction stuffed full of preservatives.
Don't find it a chore to load it up - certainly less of a chore than a trip to the shops - and when you live in the wilds like us, it's handy that we'll be self-sufficient when the snow comes, the snowplough doesn't
& the shop sells out of any bread products they usually have in stock (but not flour & yeast - although we have stock anyway
)
Nan bread dough gets mixed in it, and I've made a load of 'experimental' loaves - and only really had one failure - which was a flavour failure rather than a technical failure (now panicking because I can't remember what it was and I might make it again by accident :eek:)
It's not all rosy in the garden though - I've discovered that I (like my grandfather and great-grandfather before me) prefer day old bread - I can eat fresh, but out of preference I like it at least 24h old.... so no midnight shenanigans for me
There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
we also have the panny, it's the best! my wife mainly makes wholemeal rolls then freezes them, they defrost in 10 mins and taste 100% fresh
we like our own bread because we decide what goes in it natural organic ingrediants!If you dont ask for discount you don't get discount0 -
I've had my breadmaker since last July and it is used daily, just a couple of minutes to load up (even my OH can do it!) and a while later the most fantastic bread appears. It now rates with the washing machine as being indispensable

I wouldn't go back to shop bought bread! 0 -
Another vote for the Panny 253...Ours was a present from my inlaws, they bought this model upon recommedation of friends....They had a Morphy Richards one themselves....The bread is so much more nicer from the Panny, so much indeed that we returned the favour last Christmas.......
Yes it is silly how the bread just gets taller when you make a larger size...But as someone else said, we just put the loaf on its side and slice it in half and you have two loafs!
It's also very good at making Pizza dough for your own home made pizza's......We've been using it twice a week for the last 3? years....It's great and simple, just don't be tempted to do the quick settings, just leave it overnight and you wake up to the smell of fresh bread!....0
