Its the unions wetting themselves because after the mini fiasco they are very scared about losing their members and their power.
I mean read it - General rule of thumb is for each employed there will be two times indirectly employed to my money is Elllesmere Port Vauxhall.
Its not Ford, (850 down) Mini (800 down) Honda (hibernating) Nissan(10% cuts) so that doesnt leave many. Jag/Landrover may stop or slow production to next to nothing but wont go bust as cant then move production elsewhere.
Vauxhall are stacked with cars and doing vectra at 50% off but new Insignia prices are too high and residual values too low which means a lot of fleets are being priced out and thats a fleet car if ever I saw one.
Unions are clueless - All very well to threaten the govt but the govt overspent bailing out the banks, and now realised that they have a 7bn hole in their finances (mainly due to businesses not paying tax they dont have.
Perhaps the unions should look at the salaries they pay their top guys (100k plus) before they start pointing the fingers.0 -
What is the point with thousands of new cars stockpiled is the point of manufacturing more that cannot be sold? A bailout is the equivalent of pouring money into a black hole,0

Exactly.Union bloke has known this but too worried to say who it is. I am sure one of them will go soon, no good throwing money at the problem as you say. Sorry for the workers involved but it's time to bite the bullet.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Mandelson gave a great answer in an interview. Can't remember the exact words, or if he was going to do anything, or agreed, or indeed had any view at all on the rumour / story. Fantastic politician. Glad he's on my side.formulaonefan wrote: »What's all this news about car plant that could go bust in a matter of few days?
