Company called 'Debt Management' - collections company???

Hi everybody, posting on here for the first time as there's something I need to find out a little more about ...

My hubby and I keep getting what we have perceived to be nuisance calls from a company calling itself Debt Management. We've been treating these as nuisance calls because we have been assuming the company is trying to sell some sort of debt management solution. (I do have some debt, but not a huge amount - more significantly I have had big problems in the past and I've been assuming this company got hold of my details back then, or something like that.) Dialling 1471 just gets me a string of 0s, which has helped fuel my assumption that they are trying to flog us something we haven't asked for. Consequently, neither hubby or I have ever let them get very far into their 'spiel', and just now they called and I put the phone down on them more or less immediately I realised it was them.

I'm now just getting a little nervous though, because I've been late with a couple of card payments recently (although I have paid them as soon as possible) and it has just occurred to me to wonder whether any of my creditors have passed my account on to some sort of collections agency! (I'm not actually in default with any of them, so I wouldn't have thought so, but I am just wondering ... )

Does anybody know anything about this company calling itself Debt Management? They sound like they're calling in from overseas, caller speaks with a non-UK accent etc etc. Any advice/info much appreciated, thanks!
