Late request for fee payment.

I changed my morgage and had to pay £195 to my broker. I presumed this payment had been taken. But it had`nt the fee was supposed to be taken on completion. But it wasn`t they are now asking for it and at present i dont have it. Can they request payment from me despite the length of time. It was supposed to be taken in Oct 08.? Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

  • Why have you not already sent a cheque to your broker.
Send one now and apologise for the delay or am I being to old fashioned?

  • How would they be able to take it.
Did you set up a Direct Debit which would enable them to take it.
Clearly if you have not got the money then they are not going to get it yet.
P.S. As your dad has got £200,000 to play around with at present perhaps he would lend you the money you need at 2% above the bank rate. You could then pay the broker and live happily ever after.

If its not paid you would expect the broker to start a small claims court action to get it back. Thats what they normally do.

Its not a great start to having a mortgage that within 4 months they cannot afford £195 and will be likely facing a small claims court action that could lead to a CCJ.
